My turn... [Dec. 20th, 2008|01:17 pm]
First off, I have to say I love you to my friend, partner, and companion Terri (forgive me for not using lj tags). Your love, support, and understanding is immeasurable. You are my Hiro ;).

Let the awkwardness commence:

I could take this opportunity to vent anger, hurt, disappointment, etc but instead, I will take this opportunity to wish people happy holidays and be thankful to have met/known/befriended some really wonderful people who have had an impact on my life. I thank some for sharing knowledge, some for sharing experience, and some for simply being a friend...

Matt Fanale - Thank you for many, many, many things.

Josev and Maggie - my partners in Magic and two of the most talented people I have ever met.

Andrew and Leah Blahnik (of no lj) - if I were to wed tomorrow, Andy would be my best man. A pillar of support through some of my darkest of times.

My whole team at work (also of no lj) - I am thankful to be surrounded by a group of people that give me a reason to be proud on a daily basis. 85% of them attended the cd release even though a few had never been to the Inferno and were quite frightened initially. But by the end of the night...right there in the front row! You Go!!!

Amy and Josh - being right in the middle sucks and I greatly appreciate your neutrality (is that a word?) and your invites to keep us from becoming home bodies. We certainly need more of you both in our lives.

Jen and Keith - the parties - oh the parties. will miss those for certain. You are both kind and generous people and you'll always have a place in my heart.

BOB and Heidi - well what do I say. Bob is the master of neutrality (again with that word) He is also however, the B.O.A. :D :D :D And if you forgot what that was Bob, I'll remind you.....Counterspell!

Dave and Jean (from Chicago) for hospitality and opportunity. Sorry to disappoint, wish I could have done more.

Jim and Brittany (I:S) - thanks for the memories, laughs, beers, couches, etc. You are two wonderful people. Best wishes on the success of I:S. I am a fan.

Eric H - for giving me the motivation to purchase Rock Band and sharing your time and DLC with us. gracias.

There are so many other people I would like to thank for times shared and memories made but that would take a long time to type. You know who you are. This is certainly not all inclusive. I just needed to give some long overdue recognition and appreciate those around me.

What does the future hold?????? I'm having alot of fun learning how to play all of the instruments on Rock Band. Must get to Expert level. But, fun is the key word. Having Fun. Hopefully there will be many more nights of Rock Band with friends in our future. And who knows, maybe something new, musically, will develop somehow, somewhere.

With that, I leave you oh lj land with the immortal words of Joe Elliott -

"It's better to burn out....than fade away!"

What A Long, Strange Trip It's Been [Aug. 18th, 2008|06:02 pm]
[Current Location |home]
[mood |accomplished]
[music |Exportation, Inflamation, something - something of abomination...]

It all started at Mindless Self Indulgence at the Rave in May. From there it skyrocketed faster than the space shuttle...The kids arrive. Midway - cellphones - traffic. The next day started what was to be the summer of forgotten souls. Rush, the magic - the music...then The Police - mind blowing! Sting, Summers, Copeland - two of the best trios of all time...IMHO. Between those were
Rythm and Booms and the Elver Park fireworks in our front yard....And KANSAS (laugh if you will but they are incredible musicians), so good in fact that I sort of fell off the picnic table I was standing on and crashed into a bleacher bench, knocking down a few people and cracking/bruising/breaking a rib or two. Apparently it's all the same pain wise. Can you say Hyydrooocooodone? Yes, plenty were taken throughout the next several weeks, including the day we went to Noah's Ark. Great time, only I shouldn't have done the Witches Gulch. Bad idea! Soon the month of July was over and the much anticipated August begun. It started with a pit stop in H2Otown to pick up my friends 5150 half stack and for shits and giggles - Dennis DeYoung at H2Otown Riverfest. 62 years old (as he said on stage) but still kickin' it. He proved so by holding the ginormous note in Suite Madame Blue. Plus, I got to see Mr. Roboto performed by the original singer - Bonus! We proceeded to Chicago to begin a three weekend stint with the infamous Wade Alin, or Wade Awesome as I've come to know him. Vocals - guitar - goodness - drinking - dru--inking. Great time. I finished the guitars in 1.25 days or about 10 hours. We initially could not get a sound with the 5150 half stack. We pulled out hair. I was just about to use the Line 6 head when POW - 5150 combo amp to the rescue. Holy shit did we get a great tone out of it. I will never doubt it's greatness again. Needless to say, I'm very pleased with the tracks I recorded. It was a dream come true to work with Wade. Everything was right. Super thanks to Jim and Brittany - Dave and Jean - and especially Wade, Catherine, and Ella for sharing their homes with us and making us feel comfortable - even on couches and air mattresses. I also owe my musical life to John for making dreams come true. Thank you buddy! I hope the cd is everything to you as it will be for me. Whoah, what a summer! We will top it all of at Reverence THIS FUCKING WEEK!!!11!1 High Noon Saloon! Be there!

Hahaha Perfect! [Aug. 7th, 2008|11:11 am]
[mood | amused]

So much has happened this summer. I will post about it all when I have a little more time... for now,

Your result for The Director Who Films Your Life Test...

Quentin Tarantino

Your film will be 48% romantic, 33% comedy, 41% complex plot, and a $ 43 million budget.

Wow! What a life you have led thus far! Action-packed, anti-social with probably dark humor. Quentin hasn't really made many films, but each successive one is a bigger and grander project ... and more violent. Karate CHOP! Your life story will probably star Michael Madsen, Uma Thurman, or some TV or movie star from the 1980s for which your film will be the comeback -- let's say Emilio Estevez. Maybe. Quentin's short directing resume includes Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, and Kill Bill Vols. 1 & 2.

Final Plea [Apr. 29th, 2008|11:51 pm]
[mood | hopeful]

If you haven't voted in the MAMA's yet, the last day to vote is Wed. April 30th.

I am throwing out my final plea to get people to vote.

The award show is on my birthday weekend. Therefore, it will either be a great weekend or disappointing to say the least. You could be the deciding factor between victory or loss.

I realize that it costs $5 to vote (if you've already voted this year, you don't have to pay again) but it's for a great cause and you'd also be supporting local music.

We are up for Electronic Artist of the Year and Electronic Song of the Year. Voting in this round is considerably easier than last round and it doesn't take long at all to vote.

Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please

VOTE (for us that is) :D

Many Thanks

Love, ffej

Round 1 ends March 27th - Please VOTE [Mar. 25th, 2008|10:18 am]
[mood | touched]

Well the time is upon us again. That's right, it's MAMA's time. The yearly event that helps put musical instruments in kids' hands. Now, you might not have been in school band but I'm sure you had something that made life a little easier. For those musically inclined kids, that something gets threatened each year come budget time. The MAMA's helps fund the music programs to keep them alive from year to year. It also helps recognize the hard work put forth by the local musicians nominated for an award.

So without further ado, please vote to put us through to the next round (the final round).

IMPORTANT: VOTING FOR ROUND 1 ENDS MARCH 27TH. So please vote before then.

The cost = $5

To vote, go here http://www.themamas.org
Follow the directions as it can be confusing.

We are listed in the "Song of the Year Awards" in the Electronic genre. The song nominated is Shiver (CTRLSHFT rmx). So not only would you be voting for us, but for [info]acidbathlove as well.
We are also listed in the "Song of the Year Awards" in the Female vocalist genre with Jaded (RIB rmx).

You have to listen to at least 1 minute of each song in the catagory in order for your vote to count. The artist and song titles are not listed on these songs (to be fair) so you'll have to listen for us.

I know this is asking alot, but it really is for a great cause.
So get a dose of the warm fuzzies and help SAVE THE MUSIC!

The Hits Keep Rollin' [Feb. 10th, 2008|11:36 am]

[music |LTTN]

I can tell that this is the worst winter I've seen for many years if not ever. I feel an incessant need to spend money on luxury items in an attempt to fight the SADness. So I bought a new computer, which rocks so much better than my old machine......and yesterday upon getting up I bascially decided I need a new monitor to go with the new computer. So, off shopping we go. 3 hours later, we return home with a brand new Sony 32" HDTV/monitor.
And,

I'm like a pig in shit.

So happy.

With that said, I dropped $998.54 on a NEEEWWWW pootar featuring one of those new AMD PHENOM quad core processor thingies...

Guilty Pleasure [Nov. 30th, 2007|06:28 pm]
[mood | excited]

I have to admit that I've grown fond of The Next Great American Band. Yes, I know "how cheesey" but cheese makes everything taste a bit better. There are a few "eh" bands but there are also a few gems. One of which is a band of 12 year olds that play 80's style metal. They auditioned with Flight Of Icarus by Iron Maiden. Very Cool. The other is a trio of brothers from Nashville TN. http://www.myspace.com/ashleyclarkmusic
Grew up in a large family of traveling musicians, these boys can play like they sold their souls to the devil on a dusty deserted crossroads. Their songs might not be radio friendly but I'd throw money into the collection plate.

they also have live performances from the show here...
http://nextgreatband.msn.com/ngb/bands/theclarkbrothers

Now, I don't get into country and don't go to church on Sunday but there's something about the way these guys play that is simply incredible. Amazing.

This season of Dexter is unbefuckinglievable. And it's only going to get more intense. I'm afraid this may be the end of the series...

On a related topic, I've finished Carnivale the series for the third time. It was still as good as the first time.

My version of the weekend [Oct. 29th, 2007|02:57 pm]
First off - I:Scintilla was the breath of fresh air I've been needing. Very down to earth, intelligent, and just down right nice people, (all of them!) especially [info]twinscin 'cos he has to make up for lack of penis size! (I'm still laughing at that). They were incredible hosts. We could not have asked for or wanted more. We hope to return this kindness the weekend of Nov. 17th.

Musically, we've found our soulmate of sorts. We compliment each other very nicely. Now if we could get people to show up.

On Sunday, I found a band that I can relate to all of [info]not_eurotic's posts about what to do and not to do when trying to make it in the scene. Comasoft of Chicago played between us and I:Scintilla on Sunday. They brought everything but a kitchen sink. They brought fog machines, disco lights, standing platforms with TV monitors in them for the singer and guitar player to stand on (we could not use these as Jai would knock herself out on the ceiling), guitar with "lazer" in it (you must say "lazer" like Dr. Evil, video projections, make-up, new outfits from Hot Topic, an EMO singer that longs to be the love child of Kill Hannah.
I wanted nothing more than to wipe the stage with their hair. But, alas my "mojo" was absent as my geetar amp was not functioning properly at both shows. Actually, it sounded horrible (to me). So I'm crossing my fingers that it will be fixed and running properly by the show at the Inferno. Otherwise I'll have to blow [info]downrightamazed in hopes that he'll let me use his 5150 (which is much better than mine).

This weekend was full of valuable lessons, including "remember your ID when going out in Chicago" otherwise you will spend $30 to "round trip"cab it back to the pad to get it.

We played at a gay bar in Indy. It was a gorgeous venue but sparsely populated. I also heard that the bar itself would have been enough to scare away the Indy gothsters. WTF? We're in the metrosexual age people. Gay people don't bite unless you want them to. I wanted to steal one of the many, many boas they had stock piled the the Queen's dressing rooms but I behaved.

[info]suckpump now has four shows under her belt and each one gets better. Yay it is great success.

All in all, long weekend, lots of driving, new friends (I miss Jim already, can we clone him?), oh and lots of drinking. Work sucks ass today.
I need a drink!
